50 marathons in 50 states in 50 days

To night I am going to the premier of 50 marathons. This is a movie/documentary about 50 marathons in 50 states in 50 days. The documentary is Dean Karnazes doing the marathons. This happened in the fall of 2006. At this particular time this was very special to me because I became involve in his quest or adventure. From day 1 to day 50 I followed is running on his blog and try to catch him when he was here at DC. During this period of 50 days I read his book in 3 days and I became a fan of him. I always have run since 2000 but is always good to learn, get a refresh and become a fan of someone that shares the same passion for running as I do. So if you have chance go and watch the premier tonight in a theater near you.

Please be more happy

Today I am going to post about something different from usual. What is wrong with the people? I received today 3 hellos in this way. Hi just another day or good mourning ready for another day or just another day.

Hey every mourning or almost every of them I wake up in full force (I am not a mourning person) or really in full force or just thankful to be wake up. Maybe since I am from another “country” or another world its have something to do with it. I commute happy or with a smile in my face to my work and trust me my job is not the most exciting in the world. It’s true I enjoy it. But my question is where the happiness or the joy to life. And please try to life to the fullest.

So please simile and say hello to everyone and enjoy life to the fullest

Some Pics and videos from NJ

NJ Tri Race report (Finally a decent swim)

The NJ State triathlon was great race.

First I want give my condolence to the family of John Hobgood Jr. who died in the swim of the sprint race. He didn’t come out of the water so I assume the whole Olympic competitors swam over him.

The swim part of the race went great maybe because I was there early and I warm up 5 to 8 minutes. I was in the first wave with the entire pros, so I knew that it was no going to be as rough of a start. The swim went great except for a few competitors that by the middle of the race were getting tired and suddenly stopping I was hitting them or the opposite. Other than that I felt great.
Finish the swim in 31:18 this time has been the best swim over all of the season and it was with out a wetsuit so my little adjustment has been working.

T1 was the hardest part of the race for me because I had to walk barefoot to my bike on the concrete. That concrete was hard and it’s hurt on my feet. As of now my feet are steal sore. I got there and went out pretty fast. Well I thought that.
2:44

My goal for the bike was to try to average 20 MPH or more. To mount the bike I had to walk like 50 meters of hilly grass so it cost me like 30 seconds of my bike. When I mounted I started pedaling and the road was in great condition. The ride when smooth I get passed by a 10 super machines. In the last few miles I felt the ride ad I slow a little bit but I managed to sustain my pace. I finished in 1:08:59. I have a doubt of my average because the race said it was 23 miles and the results said it was 39 km so either way either way I managed to bike at least over a 20 MPH.

T2 went pretty quickly. Here at T2 I had the dilemma of running with socks or with out because my feet were sore from T1. I decided to put my socks evenly if it cost me a few seconds. T2 went smoothly in 1:55

The 10k was challenging but went great. It have some little step hills that make yours quad cry at some parts. Between mile 4 and 5 was the hardest part of that 10k. I managed to finish 48:02 for a 7:45 average per mile.

Total time was 2:32:56

Over all it was a great race for me because I managed to do well on 3 disciplines base on my capability. I know I need to get better on the bike but I am improving little by little. So that’s the main goal.

Next for me are Luray Olympic and Patriots ½ iron man.

Congratulations to my girl friend that finished 3rd on her age group and had the fastest bike split of her age group. Her swimming also improves a lot for this race.

I ll promise some pics later tonight

The phenomenon

It is amazing that in other countries he have that power

NJ Tri weekend

This This weekend I am doing NJ triathlon. The Olympic distance that will consist be swimming of 1.5k, bike 23 miles and a 10k run.

My expectations for the swim are low since it has been going roller coasting in the last events. So if I managed to put a 33 on it I will be extremely happy.

The bike leg my goal is to average between 20 and 21 miles is supposed to be a fast course. If I put between 1:05 and 1:08 I will be extremely happy.

The run is a 10k an base on my running the last few weeks I think I might be able to be under 48

Let see how the race goes

My girl friend is also doing the race but she will be doing the sprint. She should be able to crush that distance.

In other stuff what CSC accomplished the last 2 days in Le Tour was amazing. Carlos Sastre performance was inspiring. I wish I could climb like him.

2 weeks for the greatest sports spectacle in the world the Olympics.

Good luck to every racing this weekend

Weekend recap

So it has been a while since I post something so Il will recap.

I started training for NYC Marathon last Wednesday and I felt great doing a good speed work out. How ever my knees didn’t felt that good after the work out. They have been sore for the last few days so I cut the running until the feel good again. I biked 20 miles on Thursday and 80 miles on Saturday.

Last Saturday 80 mile ride marked my first ever completion of the W&OD trail. It was something I wanted to do since I first started training at that trail. I t was great but I finished a little bit tier. Sunday and Monday were swimming days so I can recover.

This weekend I also chase my soccer favorite team Boca Juniors and I managed to get pictures with the players. It was a great experience in all aspect. It was amazing how to see 1 of the tops teams of the world practice. In the other side was amazing to see how to see how unfriendly much of the players (not all of them) were or are. My guess is that they are. Its remind me of a column that I read on Espndeportes about soccer players.

The 2 Paraguayans players Claudio Morel Rodriguez and Cesar Caceres deserve a special mention because those 2 guys always were willing to spend time with the fans.

This weekend I am heeding to NJ for NJ triathlon. It will be a great race because of all the member of my club that are going to be there. I post about my race prediction and plan later.

The Olympics are 17 days away. Be aware

For everybody that like cycling the Tour of France is really good so everybody that have a chance to watch it my recommendation watch it and if you are off in the mourning watch it life because it is great.

That’s all for now be back later this week

Montclair triathlon

I went to the Montclair Triathlon this pass Sunday
My goals to this race was to swim in 20 minutes but concentrating on technique, bike on an average of 20 miles or more and run 40 minutes or under
The race site its great. I got there late around 6:30 and the race stars at 7 so I wasn’t able to warm-up at all. As usual I had my trip to the bathroom which took me for ever. The swim was at the lake that was hot as a Jacuzzi. I started and since I didn’t warm up and I wanted to focus on technique, I felt slower than usual. I think I swim zigzagging because when I was coming back I saw a bunch of people with yellow swim cap coming towards me. So figure out my swim was not going good. Finally I managed to finish in a time of 23:29 slower than usual. 2 weeks ago I swam 1.2 miles in 42 minutes for an average of 2:10 the 100 meters and on the race I average 2:20. So my swim time was slower than usual.
T 1 went slow too as I had to run 200 meters and have trouble taking the bike out. Lately my T1 have been looking like picnics.

The bike course stared with a short steep hill and then to the main road where you do a 3 loop course. The course was good only 2 major inclines and was pretty fast. I finished the ride in 58:35. The ride was 20 miles so I manage to get 1 of my goals.

T2 was bumpy so I follow the example of the pros that when transactions are bumpy they carried the bike. This helped me a lot as I went out of t2 in 1:25

The run was 2 loop course with 2 major inclines 1 at the beginning and 1 in between. I was feeling good so I was able to push hard on the second loop. That late push aloud me to get a 39:52 good for getting my 2nd goal.
My over all time was of 2:06:15 that it was ok. Not the 2 hours I would like but ok.

Overall the race was great. It told me that have to work more on my swim and my t1.
I recommend this race to any body from experience to newbie’s triathletes.

Congratulations to my girlfriend that finish her first triathlon 2:12:48 She had a great time in the bike and the run but needs to improve on her swim.

Next stop is NJ tri the last weekend of July.

Back on track

It has been a while since I write anything. After completing my face ½ iron distance event in a time of 6:11:11 at the spirit of Morgantown in West VA. The race was great I recommend to everyone. It is hard because of the hills in the bike and the run. I have to admit the bike course was harder than I expected and I wasn’t ready for it, specially the second loop, next time more hill training. The run was 2 loops of 6.5 mile. The first 5 miles were flat then the last mile and a ½ was really hilly. Overall I am happy with my performance because it was my first 1/2. On September 6th the second one will come and Ill be ready.

The next week I took 4 days off. I went back to the pool Friday and Saturday for 2000 meters and 2500 meter in each day. I bike 25 miles son Saturday too. Sunday I took off too because of stomach problems. On Monday I was training full force. On Wednesday I decide to register for the Montclair triathlon that it is a little more than a sprint but much less than an Olympic. Let see how its goes. Montclair will be the first triathlon of my girlfriend and we are both really excited.

After this Montclair I have on agenda NJ triathlon, Luray triathlon weekend Olympic and sprint Annapolis 10 miler, Patriots ½ ironman at Williamsburg VA, Baltimore ½ marathon and the closing the year and season New York City marathon that by the way training begins next week.

I might be getting the new I phone this weekend let see if I finally decide.

My best friend is in town for the weekend so I ll be having fun with him plus going to the dc United vs. Chivas from Mexico. So the weekend looks good.

I will keep you posted about how everything goes.
