Recap of the last few days

My trip to Richmond this weekend went great. The Duathlon went great. I arrive Saturday around noon and went directly to pick up the race number.


Then took the afternoon to have launch with my girl friend and her friend and rest. My girlfriend friend live 5 minutes from the race site so it was perfect
Sunday I arrive the race site around 6:30. Since it was Sunday and like the las 10 Sundays the weather was a mess rainy and cold. I warm up and went to the toilet as always before a race.
The race Started and as I planned the night before I was going to race at 8 minute mile Pace for the 10 k and then survive in the wet roads on the bike. I put 49: 41 at 8:00 minute mile pace 10 k.

The t 1 went ok and then to the bike I was just hilly and technical. I manage to do by best but the course and the conditions didn't help. After seeing a lot of people crashing and walking back to the transition area I just took it easy and manage to survive. My time was 1:28 with an average of 17 MPH.



It was my slowest time ever on 25 miles but considering the course and the conditions it was ok. The T2 went fast.

The last 5 k was in 27 minutes for an average of 8: 43. The total time was 2:47:48.

The race was a great training for my A races later this summer.

After the race I went to a to a wine festival. Got a little bit wasted and the back to Arlington.

Monday I swam, back to the water
Today I took it off
Tomorrow Boca plays so will see what I can do.

National Championshp duathlon



Tomorrow mourning I ll be heading Richmond for the Duathlon. I am not feeling to optimistic about it but ill try to do my best.

Today I bike 26 miles I wasn't feeling good. Yesterday I ran 45 minutes and bike 20 minutes.

A lot of stuff

My Boca juniors pass to the 2nd round of Copa libertatodres and the will face Cruzeiro from Brasil in a highly anticipated match. Tuesday game was a great tension game and the feeling at the end can only be describe with what you feel when you complete a race. Let see what happens next week.

As for my training after the messy race last weekend I am getting ready for the Nationals Duathlon championship weekend this at Richmond VA. I will be participating as an age grouper on the Olympic distance. I don't have huge expectation for this race. I only sign up to do it a t part of my training specially for the bike. I need a lot of improvement in that area. So If I can come with a 2:30 I will be really happy. Hope the weathers help on that.

My training this week have been
Monday 45 minutes on the trainer
Tuesday 1500 Mt's at the pool and a 20 minute run
Wednesday an hour on the bike (outside finally no rain)
Thursday 45 minute run
Friday swimming and a long bike run

Boca Juniors quest for the next round of Copa Libertadores


Tonight my Boquita faces a tough challenge. They have to score 5 goals to past to the next round of Copa Libertadores. They face the weakest opponent of the group. Union de Maracaibo form Venezuela. I won’t be able to see it something that pist me up because of Fox Sports giving preference to the Mexican teams. The Fox channel will be showing the Atlas-Colo Colo game. So instead of going to the local bar I am going to train make a good swim and run work out so by the time I am at home the game is already started.

Back to the game I am really positive that they will pass to the next round and they indeed will at least score 5 goals to pass to the next round. So mean while I am training boca will be rolling.

Swim= 15:59 T1 = 2:54 Bike = 56:20 T2= 3:35 Run= 24:38 Total time 1:43:24

When I wake up I and saw the weather I said to my self survival mode forget about times today. The race site looks really nice. The weather was a mess. Heavy rain all mourning until 15 minutes before the race. Race started at 10:00. I was in wave 2 so I started at 10:03. I started warming up around 9:45 but I felt that my swimming wasn’t there. So I gave my watch to my gril friend and said to her forget about time in anticipation of what was coming. I had a feeling it wasn’t going to be good.


Swim, I have swim in beaches with choppy conditions, I have surf on 10 foot waves, Surf Board leech have broke on those condition and I have survived that. I have swim for ½ hour in open water looking for wave spots. I have swim in dirty lagoons, polluted rivers, ponds, you name it. This was the hardest swim of my life. I couldn’t breath correctly, I didn’t find a rhythm was really bad I try everything and couldn’t breathe appropriately. When I came out of the water I look like I was drunk or wasted. I couldn’t manage to start running out of the water like I normally do I was exhausted.

Walking and running to T 1 I recover my air and took the wet suit off pretty quickly and took bike and went out.

The bike was a rolling hills course and with a lot rain. I knew I needed to be really cautious. I think I started cautious or slow so my time was that slow. By the time I tried to put some power I didn’t have it I try to follow people that pass me around mile 13 or 14 but I am honest I didn’t have it, No excuses. Not a great bike ride for me. The bike watch marked 19 so maybe I want exactly 18 as they said I got to t2 and have trouble putting the bike in. Then I had trouble putting my running shoes because, I decided to switch the night before from shoes and they don’t have the marvelous yanks on them. I had 1 of the slowest transition in my life.


I went out for the run it started with huge hill of about 800 meters or something like that and then it was flat. The run went ok I just try to enjoy the course with the rain. I started pushing at the end and enjoy the finish. Over all it was a great race well organized free food at the end I give them 9 out of 10. The weather was brutal and messy. So I congratulate any body who finished that race because of the extreme weather condition on the lake, bike and running course. Next stop the Duathlon national championship next weekend at Richmond VA.

The first race of the season

I haven't post about the games tomorrow ill post with pictures of everything, DCU race time,place everything.
After watching some NBA playoffs games and resting Thursday and Friday, I feel great.
My expectation for tomorrow are 1 30 or less if I make that should be excellent. So let see how its goes.

Boca vs River or DCUnited vs Columbus Crew

DC United vs Columbus thats the thing

the press today in the dc/ northen VA area have been talking about this on all news paper and tv. Guillermo B Schelloto (el guille, Chapita, el Mellizo) faces Marcelo Gallardo (el muneco). Its funny because they are trying to creat a great hype between this 2 players because of their past between BOCA and River(argentine teams). This matchup is consider the best clasic or Derby of the world.

Well of this hype affects me because I am DCUnited fan but Boca Juniors is one of my favorites team and el Guille is the maxium Idol of my team. So who i cheer for. Probably both because i am loyal to both clubs. So tonight around 8 I ll be at the stadium cheering and having fun.

The game is at ESPN 2 live so see if you can catch me.

off day "vamos United

So after a crazy Tuesday I'm back. On Tuesday I ran for 40 minutes with some accelerations. To day I went for 50 minutes bike ride, around 12 or 13 miles. I am getting for Sunday.

Tomorrow is off day because DC United plays and I am going to the game at Estadio RFK.

The POPE was in DC today. MY only comments are when the catholic church begins doing something to stop the hungryness and the death of kids in Africa,please let me know.

racing week



Today I just swim. I started concentrated on the next 2 races that I have the up coming 2 weekends that are important to shape up the rest of the season. So this week is to visualize rest and relax.
Prepare the bike the wet suit and set goals for both races...

My personality ENTJ

After doing like 10 personality test for free on the web. Like 7 or 8 came with the same result ENTJ. This means Extroverted, Intuitive, Thinker and Judger or Judging. Other may be Extraverted Thinking with Introverted Intuition.

So after looking for meanings of the above and quality's for those individual, most of those qualities are like me. So I have decided to put this in my advantage and not try to deny it. So I am going to maximize all my option so I can put those qualities in my advantage in my career relationships friendships and everything .....

Run Fat Boy Run

Go and watch this movie is hilarious funny and have all the aspects of a marathon presented in a funny way. The wall, the blisters the shoes the training is hilarious.

On training after 2 days of 80 degrees today was 50. So i went to the gym and bike for 20 minutes on the trainer. not much of training

Saturday Training Run

Today I went out for a 12 miles training run. The weather was great 70 - 75 degrees with some refreshing showers. It was a great spring run. I ended kind of sore so i just rest the rest of the day.

I am preparing now for the 1st triathlon of my season kinetic sprint so I started the preparation of the bike and the details for the race

I just finished watching the 70.3 championship and it was really inspiring to be in such wonderful sport.

Its the greatest amateur sports ever.

So for you that train and practice it keep the motivation up

A great week a better weekend

I have so much going right now that I haven't post in a few days.
My boca jrs lost 3- 1 to Atlas so they are complicated to reach the next round ... I as always might happen never but never count BOCA out the 22 is the deciding game ill keep every one posted ..
My DCU won 2-1 against Pachuca and its amazing watching the difference's of level between both team. DCU didn't pass to the next round.. but the team will do well at MLS I ll let you know pics coming soon

On NCAA mens basketball Memphis lost for 3 reasons:
1.bad free throw shooting
2.pure execution down the stretch
3.bad referee's

On my triathlon training; the day today was great (80) so i bike for 2 hours, 35 miles and swam 1800 not bad
Yesterday I biked 12 in 45 minutes
Training is going good getting ready for the first triathlon of the season next weekend

I survived the first round of ...... i keep you posted

So today is futbol week a pairs of champions league games today and tomorrow in the afternoon. I ll be working so I cant watch them.
And My teams plays today and tomorrw
My Boca Jrs plays to night at Guadalajara Mexico against Atlas in a crucial game of the fase group of Copa Libertadores the game will be at 7 :30 and I ll be watching it at a bar in Arlington. Then my other team the one that have adopted me DC UNITED plays for the CONCACAF champions cup against Pachuca in the returning game of the semifinals. Pachuca won the first game 2-0. DCU have their back against their wall. Winning at least 2-0 or 3-1 or 4-2 is the option to force extratime will se how its goes. The game is at 7:30 at esatadio RFK

For trainaing I am sore from the CB 10 miler so ill just hit the trainer today before the game and tomorrow I am off to go to estadio RFK

Cherry blosom 10 miler 1:23:00

Consider that Saturday I got my first beer at 1pm after picking up the race packet
Consider that at 4:30 I was at RFK Stadium tail gating with the DC United Barra Brava
Consider that after the tail gating I was standing, jumping and dancing the whole game with the barra and yes DCU score 4 times, lot of jumping on the stands
Consider that I went to bed at 11 really tier from the game
Consider that I wake up at 6:15 and took the metro at 7 and at 7:30 I was inside of it (race started at 7:50)
Consider that at 7:43 was cold and instead of heading to the start I was heading to the bathroom and made 12 minute line and then went in and exploded
Consider that I passed the start at 8:00 in front of the slowest wave
Consider that the 5 miles I was zigzagging running in stead of running and after that finally got some kind of rhythm

My time was 1:23:00 which is really good considering all the stuff that I went through (beers and party of Saturday) and not one single speed session
I am satisfied with my time

Happy Friday: first race of the season

I have been bloging around and I decided I am going to try to find out how ended up infected with the triathlon bug. So the history will be coming soon.


In the meantime this is weekend is the first race of the season so I have not high expectation on putting a great time or PR for the following reasons:
DC United home opener = Tailgating in the afternoon
Long bike ride Friday or Saturday depending on the weather Rain
And last but no least training have been only base training so no speed work outs at all
So having that in mind 1:20 on ten miles should be a great time with some alcohol in the blood I should feel ok so will see

Hi and welcome
The triathlon/running season begins this Sunday with Cherry blossom 10 miler at Washington DC. After saying no racing or formal competition in the first 3 month of 2008 only training the time has come to start the engines or in this case legs. This the first of many races this season were 2, ½ iron distance events and the NY city Marathon are the A races (important races of the season).
